The front track bar keeps the JK's solid front axle centered under the frame. A worn bushing, a loose bolt at the frame bracket, or an ovaled bracket hole is the most common starting point for death wobble. Mopar 52059982AG is the current factory front track bar.

Fitment

Rebuild, repair or replace?

Track bars aren't usually rebuilt at home. Replace the bar, or on lifted JKs, upgrade to an adjustable bar. Before buying anything, check the cheap stuff: have someone rock the steering wheel while you watch the frame-side bolt. If it was loose, torque it to spec (our JK death wobble guide has the bolt size and torque) and test drive. Inspect the frame bracket hole too. If it's ovaled, a new bar won't fix the problem without bracket repair.

Lift matters. A stock-length bar on a lifted JK pulls the axle off center, which is why an adjustable bar is usually the better buy once a lift is in. On a stock-height JK with worn bushings, the factory bar is a direct fix.

FAQ

Will a new track bar fix death wobble?

Only if the track bar was the cause. Check the bolt, bushings and bracket first, then ball joints and tie rod ends.

Should I buy an adjustable bar?

On a lifted JK, usually yes, so the axle stays centered. At stock height, the OEM bar is fine.

Does this fit a JL?

No. The JL front track bar is Mopar 68524201AA.
